Map your pathway to becoming a dentist

Dentistry is a regulated profession in Canada where internationally-trained dentists (ITDs) make up almost 40 per cent of those working in the field. The National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) is the accrediting body responsible for paths to licensure across the country. One path for ITDs is a qualifying and degree completion program. The alternative path is the NDEB Equivalency Process. Download your education pathway for dentists today.

Looking for a better life for her kids, Alexandra, a Colombian dentist, moved to Canada thinking she probably wouldn’t work in her profession again.

Looking for a better life for her kids, Alexandra, a Colombian dentist, moved to Ontario with her family in 2011 thinking that she probably wouldn’t work in her profession again.

After working in a few “survival jobs” and later assisting with teeth cleanings, Alexandra was determined to obtain her Canadian dentistry license. She needed to enroll in preparatory courses to write an evaluation, but money was tight. Fortunately, a bacteriologist from Colombia told her about Windmill Microlending.

After fulfilling all the requirements to practise dentistry in Ontario, Alexandra received her license in February 2017.

“I applied for many loans but couldn’t get any. I was a newcomer, so it was tough to get a loan. I was grateful because after touching many doors, Windmill gave me the money I needed.”
