Lori Sterling

Board Chair | Chair, Executive Committee

Lori Sterling was senior legal counsel at Bennett Jones LLP and prior to that, a public servant leader at both provincial and federal levels. She received the United Nations Public Service Award for Building Aboriginal Relations in 2013. Lori was named Top 100 Most Powerful and Influential People in Government and Politics in Canada in 2018 and a nominee for top lawyer in Canada in 2014. Until September 2018, she was Canada’s Deputy Minister of Labor with responsibility for Disability Accessibility and Associated Deputy Minister, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). Previously, she held the positions of Deputy Minister of Indigenous Affairs for the province of Ontario where she helped create the inaugural ministry, the Associate Deputy Minister of Justice for Canada, and the Assistant Deputy Minister for Legal Services in Ontario. She has taught constitutional and labour law school courses and appeared as legal counsel at all levels of court including 15 cases before the Supreme Court of Canada. Lori earned her ICD designation from the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto. She currently serves as the Board Chair, Pearson United World College (UWC), Executive Committee member and Chair of Legal Affairs at PEN Canada and Board Treasurer at the Spark Centre for Innovation and Commercialization. Previously, she served on the Boards of the Public Service Management Insurance Plan, the Supreme Court of Canada Advocacy Institute, the Niagara Parks Commission, the UWC International Board, and the Ryerson University Aboriginal Governance Institute. Lori joined the Windmill Board in February 2021. She served as Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee from Sep 2021-2023 and assumed the role of Board Chair in September 2023.

Peter Aghar

Peter Aghar is the Founder and President of Crux Capital Corporation, a boutique value-add real estate partner, developer and venture capital investor active across Canada. Since 2013, Crux and its partners have purchased, developed or have under development over five million square feet of commercial and residential property. Peter has a successful track record of over 25-years as a value-add investor on an institutional scale, having led more than one hundred real estate transactions totaling far in excess of $10 billion in value. Transactions have consisted of investments in Canada, the United States and internationally. Peter was formerly President and Chief Investment Officer of KingSett Capital and a Managing Director of Institutional Accounts at GE Capital Real Estate. Peter is a board member in a variety of companies and investment funds, as well as a member of the Young President Organization (YPO) and board member and lead shareholder of GoJava. He is a trustee and chair of the investment committee of Granite Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX: GRT.UN; NYSE: GRP.U), a trustee of PRO REIT (TSXV: PRV-UN.V) and sits on the advisory board of Forum Asset Management. He is a CPA, CMA and a graduate of the University of Waterloo with an Honors Mathematics Degree. Peter, his family and Crux support a variety of charitable and social enterprises including Windmill Microlending, We Charity, Medecins Sans Frontieres, True Patriot Love, Daily Bread Food Bank, Sistering and the Children Aid Foundation of Canada. Peter joined the Windmill Board in May 2020.

Dapo Bankole

Dapo Bankole is an entrepreneur, a social innovator, and a successful podcaster whose technology leadership experience spans over 22-years of an intense professional and character moulding journey. At the core, Dapo is a service-oriented and strategic individual whose love for people and technology led him to build a business that delivers true value to small businesses in Canada, Nigeria, UK, US, The Netherlands, and the UAE. His organization, Mopheth Systems, offers digital marketing services and lead generation, business process automation, custom software development and implementation. Founded in 2015, Mopheth Systems employs both full-time and contract staff. Dapo is also the creator of Immigrant Life, the Canadian Narrative – a podcast and community that focuses on helping first-generation Canadian immigrants have a better story in Canada. He served on the boards of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Nigeria as Vice-President Administration and Communication, and Heritage Christian Academy (HCA) Calgary as Technology Chair. A Certified Management Consultant, Dapo holds a Master of Arts degree in Leadership from Royal Roads University, Victoria and is a certified Coach, Speaker, and Trainer with the John Maxwell team in the USA. Dapo, a first-generation Canadian, lives in Calgary with his award-winning wife, Buki and three boys. Dapo was a 2013 client of Windmill Microlending and joined the Windmill Board in February 2021.

Claudia Hepburn

Claudia Hepburn has devoted her career to building innovative charities that convert human potential into prosperity. Before Windmill, she co-founded and ran NEXT Canada, to develop high-impact young entrepreneurs. She also founded and ran an award-winning program to improve educational opportunities for children living in poverty in Canada and has led the education policy work of a leading Canadian think tank.

Claudia serves on the board of the SickKids Foundation, where she chairs the Compensation and Resource Management Committee.

She is a member of the C.D. Howe Institute’s Human Capital Council, and is an advisor of Impression Ventures. During her 18 years serving on the board of the Kids & Company, it grew from a start-up into Canada’s largest childcare company with over 12,000 spaces across North America.

Maureen Killoran

Maureen Killoran is the national Co-Chair and a member of the Partnership Board of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. Maureen practices out of both the Vancouver and Calgary offices, and is the former managing partner of Osler’s Calgary office (2011-17). She is a trusted advisor to major commercial clients and regularly advises both public and private sector interests. Maureen’s litigation practice is devoted to complex commercial disputes with particular emphasis on the resource industry. She is a seasoned trial and appeal lawyer with extensive experience in commercial arbitrations (domestic and international) and other forms of dispute resolution. Maureen represents a diverse group of clients and has broad experience in resource industry disputes acting on major pipeline, hydroelectric, oil sands, midstream, upstream and downstream disputes. A significant portion of Maureen’s practice involves litigation related to major resource and transportation projects and undertakings. She routinely appears on matters of judicial review, regulatory appeal, and environmental, administrative, constitutional, charter and indigenous claims in federal and provincial courts across the country. Maureen joined the Windmill Board in September 2023.

Tatjana Lalkovic

Tatjana Lalkovic is a digital transformation leader with a global impact, driven by curiosity and passionate about driving business outcomes and customer-centric experiences by leveraging innovative technologies. She is Senior Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer at Definity Financial, one of the leading Canadian insurers and digital leaders in the industry. Tatjana has transformed technology and cyber security at Definity in support of the second largest IPO in Canadian history and M&A growth post-IPO. She led an exclusive, multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to power insurance innovation by leveraging AI and machine learning. With a unique combination of business and technology acumen, Tatjana has held progressively senior digital and technology executive roles across financial services (TD, CIBC and Fidelity Investments) and telecommunications (Rogers Digital), and has provided strategic direction and led innovative business transformations, including digital “store-to-door” offering for a major telecommunication company, Omni-channel transformation, and formation of Precious Metals business for a major bank and the first FX e-commerce offering for commercial customers in Canada. She is the recipient of ORBIE CIO of the year award in 2023 and is a founding member of Inspire Toronto, an advisory board of CIOs from prominent organizations. Tatjana serves on the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) board and advisory board of Guidewire Software. An advocate for diversity and inclusion, she is the Chair of Definity’s D&I council and previously led Women in Technology for a major bank. Tatjana joined the Windmill Board in September 2023.

Angie Lamarsh

Angie Lamarsh is the Head of Sustainable Finance, Commercial Banking at HSBC Bank Canada where she is responsible for leading the business’s sustainability proposition in Canada and executing on HSBC’s global commitment to provide at least USD 750 billion in sustainable finance by 2030. Under Angie’s leadership, HSBC has developed the largest sustainable finance product suite in Canada and has focused on ensuring businesses of all sizes are able to access the capital they require to successfully transition their operations to thrive in a low carbon economy. Angie’s background is in large corporate banking and she has experience leading diversified complex portfolios of public and private companies. Angie has a passion for post-secondary education and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Governors at Simon Fraser University, Canada’s top ranked comprehensive university. She is a graduate of Simon Fraser University with a master’s degree in international economic development and a bachelor’s degree with distinction in global security and conflict studies. She has lent her expertise through boards such as the Education and Finance Committee at Ocean Wise, Vancouver Aquarium, and as a mentor for the Women’s Executive Network and Tent Partnership for Refugees. Angie was recognized by Business in Vancouver as one of the Top Forty Under 40 in 2022 and was selected as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) in 2019. Angie joined the Windmill Board in September 2023.

Jennifer T. Lee

Vice Chairwoman and Senior Partner, Deloitte Canada

Jennifer T. Lee is a bold, inspiring leader who creates global transformation for her clients at Deloitte, where her expertise centres on strategy, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) specializing in growth/value creation and business model transformation. Through her global executive roles, Jennifer guided the global firm through the pandemic and advises her clients on how to best create opportunity during periods of market disruption and uncertainty. She is a Vice-Chairwoman and senior partner at Deloitte and is the global lead client service partner for a complex global and Canadian consumer-retail client. Jennifer was formerly Canadian Managing Partner for Deloitte Canada’s Emerging Growth businesses, where she addresses significant client and market issues such as Future of Trust, Climate Change / ESG and Digital Identity. Most notably, she was formerly the Global Managing Partner role for Deloitte’s Global Financial Advisory’s Clients & Markets, a multi-billion dollar business.  Global Consulting Magazine recognized Jennifer as one of the top global leaders in consulting. She was also named Manulife Mentor of the Year by Ascend Canada.  While in industry, Jennifer worked and lived around the world: M&A / Treasury for AT&T in Hong Kong, and European Marketing Group for Hewlett-Packard in Germany. While at Bell Internet, Jennifer led one of the largest and fastest wireless internet rollouts in the organization’s history. She was formerly a strategic adviser for the Azerbaijani Microfinance Association in Azerbaijan and Asian Credit Fund in Kazakhstan, focusing on elevating impoverished women via micro-loans. Currently, she serves on the board of Trillium Health Partners, and is part of the GROW Women’s Giving Circle. She is also a board governor for Sterling Hall School. Jennifer earned her Executive MBA from the University of Toronto and undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo. Jennifer joined the Windmill Board in May 2021 and assumed the role as Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee in September 2023.

Carlos Leitao

Director

Carlos Leitao was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in 2014 and held the position of Minister of Finance between 2014 and 2018. During that time, he was a member of the Committee on Public Finance and a member of the Ministerial Committee for the Economy, Job Creation and Sustainable Development. In 2016, he served as President of the Treasury Board. Between 2018 and 2022, while in opposition, he chaired the Public Administration Committee and was vice president of the Committee on Public Finance. He represented the provincial riding of Robert-Baldwin in the Montreal area until his retirement from politics in 2022. In May 2023, Carlos was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Bank of Canada. Before his life in politics, he spent more than 30 years in the Canadian banking and financial sector. From 1983 to 2003, he was an economist at the Royal Bank of Canada. He then became Chief Economist of Laurentian Bank Securities, a position he held from 2003 to 2014. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McGill University. Carlos joined the Windmill Board in September 2023.

Shamira Madhany joined World Education Services (WES) in 2018 after more than two decades of government service in Ontario. Her last position was Assistant Deputy Minister for Health, Education, and Social Policy, in Cabinet Office. She also served as Chief Diversity and Accessibility Officer, ensuring that 62,000 employees met accessibility and inclusion goals. Shamira has extensive experience working with employer associations, licensing bodies, non-profit organizations, and the post-secondary sector. She served as the chief architect of several government programs that enable internationally educated professionals to obtain employment in their fields. Shamira is a guest lecturer at Queen’s University and the University of Toronto Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. She serves on the boards of Touchstone Institute, Herzing College Toronto, Shad Canada, Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) and the CERC Migration Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB) at the Toronto Metropolitan University. Shamira was featured in Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 2019 Women Worth Watching® Awards, which recognizes women who have demonstrated high levels of leadership. She is the recipient of the Metropolis Policy Maker Award at the 2020 Metropolis Canada Awards of Excellence. Shamira joined the Windmill Board in May 2019.

John Montalbano

John Montalbano retired as CEO of RBC Global Asset Management in 2015, at which point the company managed $370 billion in assets, placing it among the 50 largest asset managers worldwide. John currently serves as Director and Audit Chair for the following organizations: Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, AbCellera Inc. (NASDAQ), and Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals (TSX). He also serves as Director for Aritzia Inc. and Chairs White Crane Capital, a Vancouver-based hedge fund. John’s past volunteer roles have included Chair of the UBC Board of Governors, Chair of St. Paul’s Foundation, Chair of The Vancouver Police Foundation, Killam Trusts Trustee, co-Founder of Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation, Chair of the Vancouver Public Library Capital Campaign and Board Member of Nicola Wealth. He serves as a Director for the Gairdner Foundation, the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, and the Rideau Hall Foundation. John holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation, a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honours from the University of British Columbia, and an Honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. John joined the Windmill Board in September 2020.

Geneviève Morin

President & CEO, Fondaction

President & CEO of Fondaction since January 2020, a Québec labour-sponsored fund with $3.1 billion in net assets, Geneviève Morin has been leading the shift and focus of the financial industry towards sustainability for over 30-years. Recognized as a pioneer for her expertise in sustainable finance, she actively works to mobilize capital and various stakeholders for the positive transformation of the economy to make it more equitable, inclusive, green and successful. Geneviève joined Fondaction when it was established in 1996, initially in administration, then in finance and corporate development, before being appointed as Chief Investment Officer in 2011. From February to December 2019, she was the Chief Executive Officer of Anges Québec Capital. Previously, she held several positions at Desjardins Group. Geneviève sits on the board of directors of Écotech. She is a past board member of Investissement Quebéc (2011-2020), and past co-president (2010, 2011) and Governor (2011) of Réseau Capital. Geneviève is a member of the Association of Québec Women in Finance and the Association des MBA du Québec. She has an MBA in Finance from HEC Montréal, a BA in Economics from Concordia University, and a Certificate in Public & Community Affairs from the Concordia School of Community & Public Affairs. She co-wrote the Guide d’analyse de l’entreprise d’économie sociale, released in 2004 and produced by Cap Finance, and has won various awards, including the Inspiration–Andrée Corriveau Award (2019) from the Association of Québec Women in Finance. Geneviève joined the Windmill Board in September 2019.

Misheck Mwaba

Director

President & CEO, Bow Valley College

Dr. Misheck Mwaba was appointed the 6th President and CEO of Bow Valley College in November 2020. He previously served as Vice-President Academic at Bow Valley College, Alberta’s largest comprehensive community college. Misheck is a Professional Engineer, registered in the Province of Alberta. He has a broad professional background in progressively responsible roles that engage academic leadership, instructional and curriculum design, applied research, and cross-functional engineering team leadership. Before joining Bow Valley College, he was the Dean of Media, Trades, and Technology at Niagara College. He is passionate about facilitating cohesive environments that enable collaboration and success in the workplace and is guided by a conviction to promote student persistence and achievement. Misheck has extensive research and teaching experience obtained through his work at Carleton University, University of Ottawa, Algonquin College, Eindhoven University of Technology, and the University of Zambia. His research findings have been presented at conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. Misheck was recently appointed to a three-year term on the Calgary Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He hopes to offer strategic insights into key post-secondary issues, including Work Integrated Learning (WIL), and reskilling and upskilling. He has sat on numerous boards and committees across multiple disciplines, including serving as a Council Member of the National Scientific and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). Born in Zambia, Misheck is the first Black college president in Alberta and is an inspiration to newcomers. He is the recipient of an Alberta Newcomer Recognition Award in career and academics and a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal. Misheck joined the Windmill Board in September 2023.


Dr. Misheck Mwaba was appointed the 6th President and CEO of Bow Valley College in November 2020. He previously served as Vice-President Academic at Bow Valley College, Alberta’s largest comprehensive community college.

Nicolas Plourde

Director

Lawyer/Partner, Sarrazin+Plourde

Nicolas Plourde is a partner at Sarrazin Plourde, a litigation boutique firm in Montreal. He is an accomplished and versatile commercial litigator in a wide range of areas, including bankruptcy and insolvency, insurance, banking and injunctions. He also has expertise in governance matters. Nicolas was President of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada in 2021-2022, which is the national coordinating body of the 14 provincial and territorial law societies which regulate lawyers in Canada. Previously, he was Bâtonnier (President) of the Quebec Bar (2012-2013), Bâtonnier (President) of the Bar of Montreal (2009-2010) and President of the Young Bar of Montreal (1997-1998). He played an important role in establishing Justice Pro Bono (Quebec) in 2008 as one of its founding directors. Nicolas is also actively involved in his community. He has sat on various boards of charitable organizations, such as Quebec Special Olympics and the Fondation Accueil Bonneau, a shelter for homeless people. Nicolas joined the Windmill Board in September 2019.

Naeem Siddiqi

Director

Senior Advisor, Risk & Quantitative Solutions, SAS

Naeem Siddiqi is a Senior Advisor in SAS’s Risk division. He is the author of Credit Risk Scorecards: Developing and Implementing Intelligent Credit Scoring (Wiley and Sons, NY, 2005), Intelligent Credit Scoring: Building and Implementing Better Credit Risk Scorecards (Wiley and Sons, 2017), and various papers on credit risk topics. He currently advises bankers worldwide on areas such as the development and validation of credit scoring models, infrastructure planning for analytics, climate risk and retail credit risk strategy. He has also trained hundreds of bankers in over 25 countries on the art and science of credit scorecard development, and helps credit risk analysts develop better scorecards. Naeem has an Honours Bachelor of Engineering from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine at the University of London, and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto. Naeem serves as Vice Chair of the Olive Tree Foundation, which funds community development projects in Canada through grants. Naeem has served as a volunteer on the Finance and Risk Management Committee since September 2021 and joined the Windmill Board in September 2022.

Naeem Siddiqi is a Senior Advisor in SAS’s Risk division. Miho Donald is an expert in capital markets, specialized in strategy and operational enhancement. Her 18-years of experience across Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank Group and TD Bank Group is uniquely entrepreneurial in that the majority of her roles was focused on launching a new department or a function. She is recognized as the first local female employee to become the head of the Listed Derivatives department in Deutsche Bank Group’s Tokyo office, where she also served as a key member of the Diversity Committee. She is a true believer in the power of community, education and equal chance, and enjoys taking part in giving back to the immigrant community, of which she is a member of, through volunteering at Windmill. Miho joined Windmill in November 2019 to serve as a volunteer on the Client Success & Growth Committee.

Armaitish Sethna Dudani

Armaitish Sethna Dudani is an experienced Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) specializing in the audits of public companies. Currently, Armaitish is a Director in the Inspections team at the Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB) – Canada’s independent, public accounting firm regulator. In her role at CPAB, Armaitish performs inspections of audit firms to ultimately provide investor confidence in the integrity of financial statements and the capital markets. Prior to joining CPAB, Armaitish worked several years at a Big 4 accounting firm in Toronto and had a short-term secondment to work in Germany. Armaitish brings her knowledge of accounting, finance and high-energy to the workplace. When Armaitish was young, her family immigrated to Canada and she witnessed first hand the struggle her parents had in their careers as immigrants, so Windmill’s mission deeply resonates with her. Armaitish joined Windmill in November 2019 to serve as a volunteer on the Client Success & Growth Committee.

John currently serves as Director and Audit Chair for the following organizations: Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, AbCellera Inc. (NASDAQ), and Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals (TSX). He also serves as Director for Aritzia Inc. and Chairs White Crane Capital, a Vancouver-based hedge fund. John’s past volunteer roles have included Chair of the UBC Board of Governors, Chair of St. Paul’s Foundation, Chair of The Vancouver Police Foundation, Killam Trusts Trustee, co-Founder of Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation, Chair of the Vancouver Public Library Capital Campaign and Board Member of Nicola Wealth. He serves as a Director for the Gairdner Foundation, the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, and the Rideau Hall Foundation. John holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation, a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honours from the University of British Columbia, and an Honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. John joined the Windmill Board in September 2020.

Maor Amar is a seasoned professional in Global Capital Markets with over 20 years of experience. Currently, he serves as a Managing Partner at Impression Ventures, where he brings his extensive expertise in financial services and investment strategy. Over the course of his career, Maor has held progressively senior roles at two prominent investment banks, advising some of the world’s largest institutional investors across Europe, Canada, and the United States. He has also worked closely with the leadership teams of many of North America’s leading corporations.

Maor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from McGill University (1994) and a Master’s degree in Management from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Nice, Sophia Antipolis (1996). He resides in Montreal with his wife and two children.

Rohit Bhapkar

Rohit Bhapkar is Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company in Toronto. He has worked with energy, financial services, public sector, and consumer packaged goods clients across North America and Europe on topics such as growth strategy, risk management, asset privatization, performance transformations and change management.

Additionally, Rohit is a leader in McKinsey’s Financial Services and Risk Practices and is the lead partner for the Toronto location’s university recruiting. He is also the co-leader of the first McKinsey Experience Studio in Toronto, a global network of spaces for clients to participate in experiential learning workshops and sessions with McKinsey experts and leaders from the local innovation community.

Rohit is a board member of OneProsper International, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of small farmers in India through improved technology, and is a board member of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation which focuses on cancer research across various fields.

Claire Kennedy

Claire Kennedy is the Senior Advisor, Clients and Industries at Bennett Jones in Toronto and serves as Lead Director of the Bank of Canada, the nation's central bank. She is also a director of Alamos Gold Inc. and Constellation Software Inc. and Chair of the Board of Neo Performance Materials Inc. Claire received her ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and has completed the Making Corporate Boards More Effective program at Harvard Business School and the Advanced Management Program at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.  

Claire served on the University of Toronto's Governing Council from 2012-2021, including four years as Chair.  She is now Co-Chair of the university's Defy Gravity campaign. She is also member of the Dean's Advisory Committee at Rotman School of Management and has been extensively involved at UofT's Faculty of Engineering. She is past President of the Engineering Alumni Association and founder and Chair of its Biz Skule™ committee.

In 2015, Claire received the Citizenship Award from the Professional Engineers of Ontario. In 2016, Claire participated in the True Patriot Love expedition to climb Vinson Massif, the highest peak in Antarctica, with a combined soldier and civilian team and raised record funds. In 2021, Claire received the Meritorious Service Award for community service from Engineers Canada and became a Fellow. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and a Senior Fellow at Massey College.

Maureen Killoran

National Co-Chair & Partner, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP

Maureen Killoran is the national Co-Chair and a member of the Partnership Board of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. Maureen practices out of both the Vancouver and Calgary offices, and is the former managing partner of Osler’s Calgary office (2011-17). She is a trusted advisor to major commercial clients and regularly advises both public and private sector interests. Maureen’s litigation practice is devoted to complex commercial disputes with particular emphasis on the resource industry. She is a seasoned trial and appeal lawyer with extensive experience in commercial arbitrations (domestic and international) and other forms of dispute resolution. Maureen represents a diverse group of clients and has broad experience in resource industry disputes acting on major pipeline, hydroelectric, oil sands, midstream, upstream and downstream disputes. A significant portion of Maureen’s practice involves litigation related to major resource and transportation projects and undertakings. She routinely appears on matters of judicial review, regulatory appeal, and environmental, administrative, constitutional, charter and indigenous claims in federal and provincial courts across the country. Maureen joined the Windmill Board in September 2023.

Susan McArthur

Susan McArthur is a successful businesswoman who is the co-founder and executive chair of LockDocs Inc., a start-up focused on digital identity as a service. She has 35 years of experience across the finance, real estate technology, and insurance sectors. She is a director of Great-West Lifeco, IGM, IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Inc. Susan’s former board positions include trustee of Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund, Chair of the Canada Revenue Agency Board of Management, and director of Power Financial and First Capital Realty Inc. As a distinguished leader, she chaired two pivotal committees for the Ontario Government: Ontario’s Workforce Advisory Committee and the Portable Benefits Panel.

Susan is an avid volunteer and a highly engaged community member. She sits on not-for-profit boards including The Atlantic Salmon Federation, the Canadian Club of Toronto, and True Patriot Love Foundation. In support of Canada’s military, she participated in two True Patriot Love expeditions to raise funds for wounded veterans and their families. Susan skied to the magnetic North Pole and hiked Mackenzie’s grease trail in B.C. to honour and support Canada’s troops. Susan completed the Rotman School of Management ICD program and is a graduate in Political Science from Western University.

Dr. Kieran Murphy

Clinical Scientist & Physician, University Health Network

Dr. Kieran Murphy graduated in 1986 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, completing residency and a neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Michigan and an interventional neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Geneva. He was then recruited by Johns Hopkins University to lead the division of Interventional Neuroradiology from 1998 to 2008. He has started six medical device companies, two in France and four in the US. He has authored over 165 peer‐reviewed publications, published several textbooks and mentored over 50 residents and fellows. He was the Scientific Chair of the Annual Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) meeting in 2010 and a recipient of the SIR innovator of the year award in 2015.  

At UHN, Professor Murphy is tasked with mentorship of clinical faculty at the Techna Research Institute and developing a culture of innovation, incubation and entrepreneurial behaviour in the Techna faculty. His devices are used 60,000 times per year worldwide. His hobbies include medical device development, race car driving and taking things apart. He is Editor in Chief and founder of the multimedia radiology education platform medlantis.org and is a member of the Medical Advisory board of Pinnacle Care and board member of Shore Capital Partners.

Dr. Murphy was also the founder of SpinaFX Medical and Cora Therepeutics. Led by Dr. Kieran Murphy, Cora Therapeutics, is dedicated to delivering innovative research‐based solutions for whole body health. Cora Therapeutics, a Toronto based life sciences start up, is pleased to announce the company has raised $1M in Seed funding. This support represents the closure of the second round of seed funding and was led by NYC based Iron gate Capital Advisors. A total of $1.8M of seed funding has been raised to date by Cora Therapeutics.

Irfhan serves on the boards of The Logic (Chair), Alate Properties, PBA Land& Development, and Canadian Western Bank. He is a recipient of The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Award of Merit, the Sauder School of Business’ Teaching Excellence Award, Business and Arts’ Arnold Edinborough Award, and UBC’s Alumni Builder Award.  Irfhan is a Fellow of Glenbow Museum, is a Jarislowsky Fellow with the University of Calgary, and is a member of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 (2017).
