For 15 years, Canadian Immigrant has celebrated inspiring and heartwarming immigrant stories across Canada at their annual Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards. The 2023 Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards was presented by Western Union and sponsored by COSTI Immigration Services and Windmill Microlending.
Canadian Immigrant partnered with Windmill Microlending to create a new award this year, The Windmill Microlending Empowerment Award. This award recognizes an individual who has gone above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of newcomers to Canada.
Windmill Microlending CEO, Claudia Hepburn, presented The Windmill Microlending Empowerment Award to Syed Najam Hassan, Founder and President of the non-profit organization Love with Humanity Association in Alberta. His organization has helped immigrants and refugees by providing much-needed resources such as food banks, informative seminars and multicultural libraries.
“It is a great honour to receive this award from Windmill Microlending,” Syed Najam Hassan states. “It is an incredible recognition of what I have done and the award has motivated me to do even more for immigrants and refugees. Canada is the best place, there are a lot of opportunities here.”
