Windmill Microlending announces new mentorship program

June 2, 2022

The aim of the program is to help equip mentees with the skills and tools required to find gainful employment in Canada.

To better support our clients in achieving professional success, Windmill Microlending has launched a new mentorship program. The program will help mentees navigate the Canadian labour market and provide necessary skills and tools to help them find employment that matches their skills, experience and education.

Windmill created the program based on feedback received from both current and former clients. Windmill will match former clients and other volunteers – mentors – with current clients – mentees – based on their professional background and goals. The main goal is providing clients with help, advice and knowledge from others who have successfully restarted their careers in Canada and are now working full-time in their desired field.

“We’ll introduce and match professionals with others who are seeking a mentor. Our mentors will provide guidance and information to mentees, which will be vital to clarify and strengthen their career path. We’ll create opportunities for success”, says Paula Calderon, National Director of Client Success at Windmill Microlending.

Based on the specific needs of mentees, mentors can assist them to:

  • Discover career paths (explore personal preferences and career options)
  • Develop a strategy and plan for future career goals
  • Create networking strategies
  • Learn how to gain work experience or look for career opportunities
  • Learn from diverse perspectives and experiences
  • Identify strengths, skill gaps, and/or areas of improvement

Please contact mentorship@teamwindmill.org with any questions about the program.
