Introducing our new loan program for healthcare professionals seeking reaccreditation in Canada

January 8, 2025

Windmill is pleased to announce expanded support for eligible healthcare professionals educated abroad who face barriers to resuming their occupation in Canada.

Foreign-trained nurses, physicians, pharmacists, dentists and others in regulated healthcare professions will now be able to access Windmill career loans at a lower fixed interest rate of 5.45% through our new Healthcare Reaccreditation Loan.

This rate is even more competitive than our standard Windmill loan, which is already among the best on the market.

“For the first time in our organization’s history, we are able to reduce the cost of borrowing for internationally educated healthcare professionals, who have always been at the heart of our mission,” said Claudia Hepburn, Windmill’s CEO. “This will allow us to support the success of more healthcare providers and get them into jobs faster, where they can start delivering services to communities across the country.”

Windmill was founded in 2005 and began as a grassroots initiative to empower internationally educated healthcare professionals (IEHPs) to achieve career success and prosperity in Canada. Today, the reaccreditation of IEHPs, who represent roughly half of our annual clientele, remains a top priority.

The Healthcare Reaccreditation Loan is designed to support newcomers in returning to their trained professions within the regulated healthcare sector. By empowering immigrants to achieve greater career success and prosperity in Canada, we help ensure better access to essential healthcare services for all Canadians.
