Newcomers focus on establishing their lives and careers when they first arrive in Canada. This makes sense as you strive to settle into your new country. However, this means what’s sacrificed is time away from work. Research shows the importance of time away from work as a tool to boost your productivity and mental health. Despite this, approximately one-quarter of Canadians don’t use their allotted vacation time. Think about the new experiences being missed because of this!

5. Explore the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site and Museum

About the experience:
Located on the banks of the mighty Fraser River, in the historic fishing village of Steveston, British Columbia (BC), the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is a dynamic museum, full of sounds, images and artifacts waiting to be explored.
A walk through its history will bring you face to face with the Chinese, Japanese, First Nations and European fishermen and plant workers who toiled long hours, side by side, to keep up with the mountains of sockeye processed in the "monster cannery".
4. Discover Jasper National Park

3. Enjoy hands on learning at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)

2. Soak in maritime history at the Cap-des-Rosiers Lighthouse National Historic Site of Canada

About the experience:
Built in 1858, this thirty-seven metre high stone light-tower is perched atop rugged cliffs near the village Cap-des-Rosiers, Quebec. The exposed point of land is at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River where it enters the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Witness to many shipwrecks, the lighthouse continues to guide ships navigating these treacherous waters.
