FAQs for Current Clients

We are proud to be supporting you on your journey to career success. If your loan was approved before Fall 2018, you might remember us as IAF. We have since re-branded as Windmill but our program and our supportive staff remain the same.

How can I see and monitor my loan payment schedule?

If you would like to see the balance of your account or the history of your loan payments, log into the Client Portal using the email address and password you used when applying for your loan. You can also reset your password if you have forgotten it. If you have any further questions about your account, you can get in touch with our Loan Management Team at loanmanagement@teamwindmill.org.

What happens if I miss a payment?

If you miss a payment on your loan, you will be notified by our Loan Management Team of an opportunity to make up your payment before the missed payment gets reported to Equifax.

To make a deposit towards your Windmill microloan we recommend that you add our company as a bill payee through your own banking institution. You can then transfer funds directly to your account as a payment. Please ensure you are making a deposit for the exact amount that had been missed.

To add Windmill as a payee through your bank, you must use your loan number as your account number. If you do not know your loan number, you may find it by logging in to the Client Portal. It will take 2-3 business days to apply the deposit to your account.

If you would like to make a payment in person through your branch, please contact the Loan Management Team at loanmanagement@teamwindmill.org for instructions on how to do so.

How does a Windmill loan affect my credit?

Windmill loans are registered with Equifax, a credit bureau. If your payments are made consistently and on time, a Windmill loan can help to build your credit in Canada, potentially giving you access to better interest rates on credit products in the future. All missed payments are reported to Equifax, and may reduce your overall credit score. You may find it difficult to secure credit in the future (ie car loans, mortgages) if your credit score is low.

My Career Success Plan has changed or been delayed. How can I make changes to my repayment plan?

If your Career Success Plan has changed, please get in touch with your Client Success Coach and they will work with you to determine whether a restructure of your repayment schedule is warranted. If you’re not sure who your Coach is, please contact info@teamwindmill.org and our Intake Team will be happy to connect you to your Coach.

I am facing financial problems and cannot keep up with my payments. How can I make changes to my repayment plan?

We understand that you may face setbacks along your pathway to career success. If you are unable to make payments, please get in touch with the Loan Management Team at loanmanagement@teamwindmill.org and they will work with you to determine whether a restructure of your repayment schedule is warranted.

How do I request my next disbursement?

The Loan Management Team will be happy to help you with your next disbursement. You just need to email them at loanmanagement@teamwindmill.org to request it. Even if your next disbursement was scheduled for a certain month, it does not go to your account automatically, and you still need to request it from them.

How can I make lump sum payments towards my loan or pay off the balance?

You can make a lump sum payment by setting up Windmill Microlending as a payee through your bank online, using your 8-digit Windmill loan/account number without the dash. Once the payee is set up, you will be able to make a payment to your loan. Windmill Microlending loans are open loans, and can be paid off early at any time without penalty. To verify your loan/account number, you can review your loan documents, or check your Client Portal. If you have any issues, or want to confirm your payoff amount, please contact the Loan Management Team at loanmanagement@teamwindmill.org.

Can I pay my loan through a credit card?

No, you cannot pay your loan directly through a credit card. Loans are set-up for regular payments to be withdrawn automatically from your bank account on the 15th of every month. If you need to make up for a missed payment, or want to make a lump sum payment towards your loan, please contact the Loan Management Team at loanmanagement@teamwindmill.org for instructions on how to do so.

Is my loan tax deductible?

Windmill loans are personal loans, rather than student loans (or government loans). Therefore, the interest payments on this loan are not tax deductible and we do not issue T4s for this loan.
